Captain John Raven (Captain, Co-Owner): Former Alliance military turned privateer -- John has always been consumed with makin' money and keeping his ship in the sky. He made money in the war by lookin' the other way when smugglers and the like, thems that could pay, needed to get past Alliance blockades. Though no proof was ever presented, the circumstances were good enough to have him discharged from the military and stripped of his rank. He now roams the 'verse looking for a good deal. Dr. Sebastian Raven (Doctor, Co-Owner): Worked as a doctor on a small moon during the end of the Unification War. He tended to the needs of a mining community when, one day, some unknown object fell from space. Within weeks, there was a sickness that quickly spread across the people, with many of them ending up in coffins. Sebastian also fell ill, but as of today, he is no longer contagious; however, he is always close death's door, suffering from severe health problems, and coughing up blood when he's overactive and such. Dr. Raven is convinced the Alliance sent down some experimental virus to strike at the colony, since it was rumored that the Browncoats had been usin' it as a smuggling hub. The Doctor's goal is to investigate the incident more and to find a cure before it's too late. Jonah Rainbow (Pilot): Of Carribean descent. Pilot extrordinaire and a home-brewing, weed-growing, chicken farming rastafarian. He was a bit too odd and unreliable to be considered for the job, until the cousins tasted his cooking -- he was a genius in the kitchen, so they hired him. Jonah had a friend, a female cattle-rustler named Mara Wesson who, unbeknownst to the cousins, had saved his neck from an ill-fate at a poker table a year back. Jonah thinks very highly of her because of this, so he bragged how she was the best cargo-stower in the 'verse and she was gorram good in a tight spot, too. What with the two pistols she carries around and all. Mara Wesson (Hired Gun): Truth is, Mara grew up on a farm handling cattle with her two brothers, which is where she learned to shoot. Trouble is, the rancher who wanted their farm ended up dead with one of Mara's bullets in him. Now she's on the run from that Rancher's family who wants revenge. Mai Lin (Mechanic): Diligent and exceptional in the engine room, she has to make do with duct tape and chickenwire for repairs to the Nevermore as both the Ravens are real stingy with the credits. Luckily, Mai Lin is under the opinion that the things that can be patched with chewing gum and a soddering iron don't really need to be replaced. Joss MacNamara (Person of Influence): Born on Shadow and moved to Persephone, Joss was elected to Parlament in his mid-twenties. Though he's not all that handy with a weapon and is absolute dead weight in a cockpit or engine room, his charm and charisma enabled him to make several influental contacts in both high and low places. However, his penchant for gambling led to a substantial debt which caused trouble with unrespectable folk in the underworld that even his smooth talking hasn't been able to get him out of, forcing him to make an early retirement and seek a way out of his financial woes.
